How to slay in a Bikini?
It has been a silent battle for most of us to hear what society would say when it comes to “dressing your age”. It seems like people around us dictate what we should wear and shouldn’t when we get older, they always have their opinion. Well, here’s a thing, ”You can’t please everyone”. So whether they would agree or disagree with the way you dress, don’t mind them, focus on yourself, and don’t let them rain on your parade. Easier said than done? Here are tips and tricks to slay a bikini for all ages.
Pick the right style
Picking the right style is essential if you want to slay your bikini. Here are things you should consider when picking the right style:
Body Shape
There are 5 common body types and you can see them on my other blog(link), but here’s an overview of the list:
- Round shape
- Inverted triangle
- Rectangle
- Triangle
- Hourglass
Skin Color
Each skin color has its complementing colors to make your skin pop. Again, here’s an overview of the skin colors with their respective palettes.
- Fair
- Light
- Medium
- Tan
- Olive
- Dark
Look into swimming cover-ups
This one is for those who can’t help but are still willing to come out of their comfort zone and somehow break the stereotype. You can opt for beach skirts/ sarong skirts, beach pants, or kimono cover-ups, or if you’re daring enough you can try see-through cover-ups and dresses.
Pick out accessories
Accessories may be small pieces of items but if worn well, they can enhance your features and give you not just an extra look but also define parts of your body that you aren’t aware of before. They can be used to balance details on your clothes, and face and body features.
- Wear accessories that are functional such as sunglasses and a sunhat to protect you from the sun.
- Wear accessories that are not too much, remember that beach is a fun and relaxing place. You don’t want to worry about how heavy your earrings are, worst, losing them.
- Choose accessories that complement your bikini and skin color.
- Wear large hoop earrings to accent the slant of your cheekbones.
- Wear a slender chain necklace to draw attention to your collarbones.
Identify the body part you’re proud of(avoid looking at your flaws)
Instead of covering your flaws, Identifying the features that you’re proud of is one of the ways to conquer fears and boost one’s confidence. You may have great collarbones, or you’re proud of your muscular arms and toned legs. Whatever you love about your body, you can find a bikini that’s made to flatter those features you have.
Don’t compare yourself to others
I strongly believe that each of us is created uniquely, there is no other you. If you are too critical of others, chances are, you can also be the same to yourself. You are your own critic. Instead of doing that, try to find something that you can admire in others in their bikinis. Your goal here is to improve your overall kindness so that you’re more likely to be kind to yourself.
To end this, it’s time to challenge these bikini stereotypes and embrace the fact that women of all ages can wear bikinis and feel confident doing so. Whether you’re young or old, thin, or curvy, there’s a bikini out there for you. So, don’t be afraid to try something new and embrace your body in all its beauty.
